In many ways, I am Peter Pan.

I am a boy who never grew up. I relentlessly pursue adventures and I am so blessed in life. I do advertising and marketing, a lifelong passion. I love hanging out with my wife and dog. I play guitar. I collect baseball cards. I write books. I love visiting with my friends and family. I take a long walk every day. Life is glorious.

Maybe I’m not EXACTLY like Peter Pan. It’s the responsibility of those who have a good life to give back. I serve on the board of Bradley Free Clinic, I am active in my church, and I am part of the core team of Sleep in Heavenly Peace, a great organization that makes beds for kids who don’t have beds.

I have about a half dozen regular marketing clients that keep me busy. I am honored by their trust. I also help out my friends at AccessU anytime they need me.

Redball Advertising & Public Relations is my advertising consultancy. I provide advertising, public relations, and marketing services for right-sized clients. My goal is to develop a genuine relationship with brands and act as an advocate for them in a changing marketplace.

I have enjoyed a very good career in advertising working with brands such as Kroger, M3Harris, Virginia Tech, The Fenway Group, Appalachian Power, and many others. I have won dozens of awards for advertising and public relations, have been awarded the Silver Medal from AAF, and inducted into the Marshall University Mass Media Hall of Fame. I am focused on working with clients who are making an impact in the community and budget or compensation is not a big concern for me.

I have written more than most writers, but mostly in short bursts as an advertising copywriter. Since transitioning away from traditional employment, I have enjoyed writing two novels.

Way Out Wayne is a coming-of-age adventure about a football team that seems to be heading towards a state championship until an on-field incident puts the season in jeopardy.

Baseball Cards at the Edge of War is a non-fiction book about the 1941 baseball season, the cards that were issued, the issuing companies, and the players that appear on the pasteboard treasures.

Looking for a great couples getaway?

We’ve lived in Roanoke for nearly four decades, but we only recently discovered what a jewel is in our presence at Smith Mountain Lake.

We have a nice, simple condo that we enjoy sharing with others.

Shine: The Legacy of Roanoke’s Advertising Men and Women

One of the most rewarding projects in my career was writing and producing the story of advertising in Roanoke. This features many of the legends of Roanoke advertising as well as commercials from days gone by. It’s free to view.

Big ups to my creative partner on this project, Dave Perry. Dave is now working in Hollywood as a DP and cameraman. Check out his website here.
